The 85th Oaks Stakes took place on Friday 22nd May 1863 and was won by Queen Bertha (40/1), by Kingston out of Flax trained by John Scott, who won by a head in 2 mins 54 secs. The winner won £4,845 (Equivalent to £542,600 in 2017) and there were 20 runners.
